The Be Healthy programme, founded by Young Achievers Award winner Luke Lancaster's charity, has been shortlisted for the National Lottery Good Causes Award 2012!
The programme teaches young people how to eat healthily, manage their stress and relationships, take appropriate exercise and lead a balanced and healthy lifestyle. They are also trained to become Be Healthy trainers, and they in turn work with young people to help them understand how they can take positive action and avoid harmful choices. It teaches young people how to live healthily on a budget of less than £10.50 per week and has delivered over 1500 health MOTs per year to vulnerable young people. Be Healthy is proactively tackling youth obesity and teaching young people how to eat healthily, cook on a budget, manage stress and take exercise. The MOT helps signpost young people to action they need to take and where they can get support in their area. National Lottery funding has enabled 20 youth trainers, many of whom were homeless and abused young people, to re-engage in life and escape the poverty trap.
